Aphasia

Aphasia is the loss of ability to produce or comprehend language due to brain lesions in areas that specialize in these tasks.
The left brain basis of language
Although similar in appearance, the cerebral hemispheres are specialized in different functions. One of the best known is the specialization of the left hemisphere in most people as the basis of verbal language. Understanding non-verbal aspects of language and prosody (phonetic) and the rhythm of it, are located in the left hemisphere. This is true for 95% of people skilled and 70% of left-handed people, being partially or completely lateralized to the right side in the rest.

The left hemisphere is also responsible for controlling the drive to the side of the body members (half of the body) right. In addition, motor areas are physically close to the language, so it is common that some subtypes are accompanied by hemiparesis, aphasia (inability to move) right

Causes of aphasia.
Aphasia is caused by trauma or a brain infection, such as:

Stroke or stroke: is the most common cause of aphasia, especially that caused by thrombotic or embolic ischemia.
Traumatic brain injury, usually caused by an accident.
Localized or diffuse infection of the brain, as brain abscess or encephalitis.
